This Saturday, Republican Chris Obenshain announced his candidacy for the Virginia House of Delegates in the new 41st House District covering portions of Montgomery and Roanoke Counties. See what the local media had to say about Chris's announcement:
Montgomery County attorney Chris Obenshain on Saturday became the first contender to seek the newly created Virginia House of Delegates’ 41st District in an election that’s still 19 months away.
“We need a Republican candidate who can win this entire district, from Riner up to Catawba, from Blacksburg over to Bent Mountain,” Obenshain said, announcing his candidacy for the GOP nomination during an event held at his family’s farm in Blacksburg.
Chris Obenshain, an assistant commonwealth’s attorney in Montgomery County, has announced that he will seek the Republican nomination in the newly-drawn House of Delegates district that covers most of Montgomery County and parts of western Roanoke County.
The district, drawn as part of the redistricting approved by the Virginia Supreme Court in December, has no incumbent. An analysis filed by the two “special masters” — one Democratic, one Republican — who drew the maps used two prior sets of election results to rate the 41st House District as the most competitive district in the western third of Virginia.
Chris Obenshain is a father, a lifelong Virginian, and a proven conservative. He currently serves as a Major in the United States Army Reserve and as a prosecutor for Montgomery County.
